As you may have read, I’ve had tremendous stress in my life since last November. I promised myself that after the holidays and my pain in the ass move, I was going to be selfish and focus on my own self-care. Caring for yourself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation. This Covid self-isolation was the purrfect π» time to hit my reset button. I decided to pamper myself, try a few new things out and pass off the results to you. Let’s face it, I’m 52 and there’s some maintenance to do. My goal with this blog has always been to remain REAL. I write about what disturbs me, what I fear and what excites me. I put myself out there and am willing to be split open. In my hopes of remaining genuine, I am not afraid of being the authentic, imperfect, flawed, quirky, crazy, unique person that I am.
The things that I am passionate about are not random, they are my calling. So if you are looking for your own personal spring makeover that will make you feel like a MILLION $$$$, then consider these 9 simple ideas to a sexy, vibrant new you in 2021. In the legendary words of my boyfriend Tom Brady, “Let’s F*cking Go!!!”
Phase One: TEETH
Because NONE of us want teeth that look like thatπ³, I noticed my pearly whites were looking a Lil dingy after 365 Starf*cks Venti coffees I’ve had this year. I started using the infamous Crest 3D Whitestrips. A week went by and ya know, not a huge result. I needed the bigger better deliverer, AKA the UPS of teeth whiteners. I went to the Versailles Medical Spa in Darien. They hooked me up with this super teeth blasting machine that made me feel like I had just boarded the “Close Encounters” spaceship. The med-tech applied some goo on my teeth, then placed some earphones on my ears and as I watched the Audrey Hepburn documentary, 40 mins went by in a flash. I was handed the mirror and I anxiously looked for my results and PRESTO, I had new gleaming teeth. For me, this was an easy investment as nothing ages you like yellow, discolored teeth. Male or female, it’s a necessity. Hey, life is short, smile while you still have teeth. #YUCK

Phase Two : LEGS
I’ve had four pregnancies, three of them being 9.5lbs and over, so my legs have taken a toll. Genetics have only complicated my sitch and therefore I have had to do leg maintenance for 13 years now. During these past weeks, I have had two varicose vein removals at the Southern Connecticut Vascular Center in Darien. Janine is my wizard over there and she has turned my 80-year-old legs into the rocking gams that they are today. She not only works on varicose but spider veins as well and the transformations are astounding. Again, all in the efforts of keeping youthful. You will be surprised at how much your health insurance covers these procedures. Book now as SUMMER IS COMING.#Stoptheleghangover

Phase Three: Eyebrows
I was not blessed with the furry, dominating eyebrows like Cara Delevingne. I’m not really a hairy girl, thus my brows are on the weak side. But, have no fear, the Benefit Browbar Lounge is here. I made an appointment at their Westport store with Kelly who is a Brow Master! She quickly evaluated me and prescribed a brow tint and eyebrow wax shaping. This way my brows were a shade darker than my hair, thus creating a more pronounced shaping for my face. She recommended a few eyebrow thickening tools and gave me a tutorial on how to upkeep my look and I was out the door for $25.#EXTRAfluffy

Phase Four: Face
Being the single Mom of 4 kids, yes count them 4, I’ve had my share of angry moments creating certain permanent lines on my face. I not only have the “11” between my eyebrows but now it’s turned into the “22”!!!. Have I been a Super Sun Worshipper my entire life YESSSSSSS!!! There has been some crow’s feet damage from squinting on the beach, while I was watching my Rugrats. Hence, I did my local research and I discovered who was the Yoda of Botox in town. Her name is Cassandra and you can find her at Dr. Passaretti’s office in Darien. I had a consultation with her and wanted to let her know that in no terms did I want to look like Nicole Kidman with a frozen faceless expression. I instantly loved her vibe as she said, “Slow and steady wins the race!” She gets me! She analyzed my facial needs and shot me up with steady-handed precision. She also gave me a prescription for a Retinol cream to use nightly to refresh my skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. In one week’s time, my wrinkles were drastically reduced with plenty of movement left to keep me off the Stepford Wives cast. I have never looked better. #BotoxRocks

Phase Five: Nails
When I inherited the good hair gene, I did not get the good nail gene. My nails have always been brittle so I researched which nail treatments could make them stronger and healthier. My daughter, Jessica, had told me about the powder manicure. The gel manicure always weakened and destroyed my nails. The powder manicure, however, made them stronger and promised the longevity of a gel manicure, a WIN WIN. I can now happily report that my nails are longer and stronger than ever. They look so fresh and elegant for almost an entire month. #EXTRABonus
Phase Six: Hair
Many of you know me and my 4 sisters, and you are very aware that we, the Waters Daughters, have been blessed by the hair Gods. This is all due of course, to my mother’s Mulligan genes.#ThanksMom. I wasn’t really thrilled with my last highlighting job. I wasn’t just having a bad hair day it was more like a bad 7 weeks. Why is that? For a lot of us girlies, our hair is the center of who we are. It frames our face and has the ability to make us feel sexy, cute or glamorous depending on the style. Since I was unhappy with my hair, I sought out a new stylist.
I headed to The Studio in Darien for a routine blow dry with my girl Olivia. I hadn’t seen her in a while and I asked her what she thought of the current condition of my hair. She was incredibly truthful and took me through the steps it would take to get back to my hair glory. She took out her magic wand, increased my amount of highlights, added a base break, and gave me a mineral treatment to remove the buildup that the well water had left on my tresses. She also cleaned me up with a cut to remove my dry split ends and sharpen up my angles. After her masterful blow-dry, VOILA! The Bombshell was back. It had actually looked as if the sun came and sat on my head, which is EXACTLY what I wanted. I was soooo happy with her work that I took my daughter in the next day to have her highlight her brunette hair and AGAIN….Perfection. Love is in the hair!!!

Phase Seven: Eyelashes
I did not win the lottery with the length of my eyelashes in the family, unfortunately, that honor went to my brother. I knooooow, WTF!!! I was tired of waking up and not being able to see my eyes without mascara. It would take me sooo much time to take out my mascara wand and construct a decent set of eyelashes. I decided to look into eyelash extensions. A few of my friends had them and they looked truly fab. Lash extensions deliver the gorgeous lashes you want with one appointment, and you won’t have to bother applying and removing mascara every day, or worry about mascara flaking, running, or smearing. They can save you time. Again, I did a little research to find a trusted pro with a steady hand. I called the Whip Salon in Westport and booked my appointment with Kathy. After an hour and a half and a delightful chat with her, I emerged as Tricia Way EXTRA. My eyelash extensions instantly dramatically enhanced my eyes. They looked bigger, brighter, and more youthful, and the lashes will also bring out the color of your eyes. … my extensions look natural and are weightless. You will most likely forget that they are on and you look gorgeous the minute you wake up to the world! Warning: You will become addicted. The only drama I enjoy is in my lashes.#NoRegrets

Phase 8: My Bod
After the holidays and my move, I wanted to refocus on maximizing my physical potential. I took sleepy, cold February and March to push myself to increase my muscle mass and try to improve my six pack! π€£ I increased my cardio to a daily 45 minute workout and added an additional 30 mins of weights or pilates, altering days. I saw results from my routine in two weeks. Now is the purrfect time to fine tune your bod, as swimsuit season will be upon us before we know it. Roses are red, violets are blue, go to the gym.
