Since we are all limited to what we can do during this Quarantine, I thought I would put some movie ideas together for your viewing pleasure. Some of my suggestions are classics and some are off the grid. Enjoy them with your kids if they are of age. I think it’s important for them to see these movies from a previous generation! I have always loved the movies; the glamour of Hollywood and the escape to other worlds where these masterpieces take us. Get yourself some popcorn, a furry throw, your beverage of choice and choose one of the following:
1. Braveheart
Mel Gibson at his best portraying William Wallace in this historical fiction war film complete with kilts, romance, treachery, and battle scenes galore!
“Every man dies, not every man truly lives.”
2. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
There is nothing better then watching Matthew Broderick play a high school wise guy skipping a day off from high school.
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
3. Born on the Fourth of July
I believe this film to be one of Tom Cruise’s best acting performances, as he plays paralyzed Vietnam War Veteran Ron Kovic.
“Well, I LOVE America!”
4. Beverly Hills Cop
Eddie Murphy as hysterical street-smart Detroit cop Axel Foley stuck in Los Angeles pursuing a murder investigation. Great old school Eddie here.
“This is the cleanest and nicest police car I’ve ever been in my life. This thing’s nicer than my apartment.”
5. Slumdog Millionaire
A crime drama film telling the story of 18 year old Jamal from the slums of Mumbai. Every time my kids complain about something I bring up this film.
“My enemy’s enemy is my friend.”
6. The Other Guys
A buddy cop action comedy film featuring the brilliant combination of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Get ready to pee in your pants.
“Bye Sheila!”
7. 42
A biographical sports film written about the racial integration of professional baseball player Jackie Robinson who wore jersey #42. This movie stuck with me for a while!
“Dollars aren’t black or white.”
8. Ace Ventura Pet Detective
A classic Jim Carrey comedy about a pet detective who is hired to find an abducted dolphin mascot. Crazy antics and gross out humor galore. You will laugh so hard your face will hurt!
“Well this is a lovely room of death.”
9. A River Runs Through It
My boyfriend Brad Pitt’s break out drama about the author’s idyllic Montana youth. Gorgeous cinematography, I fell in love with this part of the West as much as I did with Brad.
“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.”
10. The Last Dance – Documentary
This is the incredible sports documentary series about the career of superstar Michael Jordan. Myself and my kids are glued to this and the Supernova energy that MJ exudes is ridic!
“I can accept failure, but I can’t accept not trying.”
